室戸市吉良川（きらがわ）は、大正〜昭和時代に土佐の伝統技法を施して建設された伝統家屋が立ち並ぶ町。そこにある家々は、単に外観の美しさだけでなく、室戸の風土気候に合わせて建設されています。そのエリアで「しゃかんさん」と呼ばれる左官職人が、「人の生活と命を守る家」を建て、室戸の中でも独特な文化が誕生しています。
